NICE Final Draft Guidance (FDG)

As of 13th May 2024, NICE recommends Vyndaqel (tafamidis) as an option for treating wild-type or hereditary transthyretin amyloidosis with cardiomyopathy (ATTR-CM) in adults.1*

Tafamidis is only recommended if the company provides it according to the commercial arrangement.

*Note, that the FDG is subject to consultation, which closes on the 28th May 2024. The Final Appraisal Document (FAD) is expected to be published on 19th June 2024.1

To view the advice in full, visit the NICE Website.

Interim Funding for Vyndaqel - What does this mean for your patients and service?

Vyndaqel has been awarded Interim Funding through the Innovative Medicines Fund (IMF), meaning that NHS funding is available from the day of FDG publication- 13th May 2024. This is only applicable for patients living in England. Funding through the IMF will switch permanently to routine commissioning budgets 30 days after NICE issues final guidance which is expected to be 19th July 2024 for Vyndaqel.2

Since Interim Funding is not applicable in Wales, the normal NICE implementation guidance applies. The NHS in Wales must usually provided funding for a treatment within 2 months of the first publication of the NICE FDG.1

Interim Funding doesn't impact the normal processes for local adoption of NICE guidance, so formulary inclusion remains an important step before Vyndaqel can be prescribed.2
