 Tofacitinib should only be used if no suitable treatment alternatives are available in patients:

  • 65 years of age and older;
  • patients with history of atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease or other cardiovascular risk factors (such as current or past long-time smokers);
  • patients with malignancy risk factors (e.g. current malignancy or history of malignancy)

 These risks are considered class effects and relevant across all approved indications of JAKi in inflammatory and dermatologic diseases.

Biography

Dr Zoe Cole currently chairs the local drugs and therapeutics committee and is part of the BSW area prescribing committee. She set up the Salisbury Biologics service in 2015.

In addition, Zoe chairs the expert working group for musculoskeletal disorders at national casemix office and sits on the RCP expert advisory group for specialist commissioning. She is currently lead for GIRFT within the trust. Zoe has had significant successful with redesign of services within rheumatology services within the CCG/ICS and is currently involved with the COVID recovery plan within the trust and ICS.
