Pfizer have created a range of patient materials to help you support your haemophilia patients.

Haemo Heroes app

Haemo Heroes app is deisgned for children aged 5-13. It provides educational support and interacive games designed to teach users how to lead a healthy life with haemophilia.

Users are provided with their own avatar who has haemophilia. By naming and caring for their avatar around the house environment, the user will receive 'Prophy Energy' points, which they can exchange for new food or clothing for their avatar. Haemo Heroes also provides 8  fun minigames, including 'Deep Sea', 'Goal Keeper' and 'Bike Rush'.

Alice Wilkinson, Advanced Haemophilia Nurse Practitioner, University Hospitals Oxford provides a first-hand account of how Haemo Heroes has benefited patients in her trust along with FAQs and information about how to access the app and order posters, banners or leaflets for your trust.

Ready Rufus

Ready Rufus – Find Professor Tapps is a boardgame that implements game-based learning to teach children aged 7 and older and their carers about haemophilia.

The aim of the game is to guide Rufus through 4 different scenes: The Leaky Lakes, The Whistling Woods, The Misty Marshes and The Slippery Slopes by rolling a dice to move forward spaces.

The game has two levels of play: Inventor and Apprentice. The level of play chosen determines the difficulty of the questions asked. By playing this game, children can learn about what to do in the event of them falling and hurting themselves, which can save important minutes in treating their injury and preventing them gaining a more substantial injury.

There are further 'Ready Rufus' materials that can help children to manage their haemophilia in a fun way. These include a sleepover checklist which helps to teach them not to forget their factor product, as well as an educational brochure giving age appropriate information on haemophilia.

Additional materials for Ready Rufus:

  • Educational Brochure (available as an older or younger version of Rufus depending on the age of the child)
  • Sleepover Checklist
  • Activity Book
  • Storybook
  • Progress chart with stickers (can be an older or younger version of Rufus depending on the age of the child)
